Allan M Pickus

Allan Morris Pickus, of Lake Bluff, age 76, passed away suddenly on August 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife Meline, children Jeffry, James, Joel and Louis (Sara), brother Nathan (Jane), sister Tamara (Marc) and grandchildren Jordan, Max, Sam, Danielle, Madeleine, Rachel, Wynne, Jack, Charlie, Honor and Henry. Allan was preceded in death by his father Louie, mother Lillian and brother Edward. Allan, educated and trained as an Architect, was co-owner of Pickus Construction & Equipment Company from 1963 until his retirement in 1996. He was active in the local construction industry as a Chairman of the Lake County Contractors Association, a Chairman of the Mid-America Regional Bargaining Association, a Chairman of the Waukegan Zoning Board and a member of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce. In retirement, he and his wife were very passionate about their volunteer work at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and the Living Desert of Palm Desert, California. Funeral services will be held at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee at 11:00 AM, August 18, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, Illinois, the Living Desert, California or the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland Montana.
