I met Mr. Rossi by chance off a craigslist ad for a 1967 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp.. I sat with him and his son for an hour or so and heard stories of how he’d played his accordion through this amp when he played for the pope.. I had a friend with me as well and we both just thought to google your fathers name and “Chicago” to see if we could find any info on him.. As we were leaving his apt / condo he softly yelled down the hall “Martini & Rossi baby!” Amazingly nice guy and I feel honored to have been able to fully restore that amp and give it a good home. My deepest condolences for your loss.

I remember you both as small children. I was an accordion student of your dad at age 12 and met him again in my 20's working for World Book. My husband and I listened to his music many weekends when we lived in Waukegan. We have many fond memories.

Dave and Donna: I was saddened to hear about your father's death. Thinking about him brought back wonderful memories of the many hours we played basketball in your driveway. Mr. Rossi was a childhood friend of my father, Leonard Bruni.  They lost track of one another over time, but reconnected in their later years. “Arrrrrrrr-mand”- as my father affectionately called him –and my dad got together on a regular basis and if they couldn't, they called one another.  I'm glad they were able to spend time together before my father passed away in 2009.  He was a good, kind friend to my dad.  My condolences to the family.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Rossi's death. He was also my accordion teacher for 2 years. I didn't like the playing the accordion but he instilled a love of all types of music within me.

Great next door neighbor for many years on Washington Park. At a young age, hearing Armand play the piano so beautifully inspired me to learn. Our thoughts and prayers to your entire family.

ARMAND AMD I WERE FRIENDS FOR MANY YEARS. I RECALL VISITING ARMAND AND HIS WIFE SHIRLEY (WHO HE TRULY LOVED AND MISSED ) IN NAPLES, FLORIDA. SPENT MANY AFTERNOONS  PLAYING THE HORSES AT CHICAGO TRACKS. I WAS A HORSE OWNER AND TOOK ARMAND TO THE BACKSTRETCH TO PET AND FEED CARROTS TO MY HORSES. HAD BREAKFASTS AND LUNCHES ALL OVER LAKE COUNTY. INTRODUCED ARMAND TO MY FRIEND NEW YORK YANKEE MOOSE SKOWRON. ARMOND LOVED ALL KINDS OF SPORTS. REMEMBER HIM ENTERTAINING THE CHILDREN AT GLEN FLORA COUNTRY CLUB PLAYING THE PIANO. YOU WILL BE MISSED ARMAND. GOD BLESS YOU.

Mr. Rossi was my first accordion teacher....
  He was a wonderful teacher, and an even better man..

He was in his early 20s and I in my pre-teen years when he was my accordion teacher at Steffani's music studio in Waukegan.   A very handsome man as I recall,  and a very good musician.
