Betty A. Smith

Betty A. Smith, 77, of Gurnee, IL, passed away peacefully after a long battle of cancer on May 5, 2014. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Montello, Wisconsin. Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked in real estate and ran an at-home day care for several years in Grandwood Park, and loved to play cards and bingo. Leo and Betty enjoyed early retirement and traveled for several years in their motorhome. Betty is survived by four children; son, Leo (Linda) Park City, IL; daughters, Sandra (Stanley) Smith, Rainbow City, AL, Diane (Mark)Tennyson, Fox Lake, IL, and Janet Dever, Lindenhurst, IL; grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Domzil, Tyler Smith, Crystal (Jim) Whitehead, Michelle (Tim) Nelson, Ashley Tennyson, Jody Tennyson, Danielle Smith, Tiffany (Sid) Estrada and Gary Dever; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Ardelle Rades, FL, Darlene Denzer of WI; brothers, Glen Dettman and Dale Dettman, both WI and several nieces, nephews and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Leo Sr.; her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 1 to 3pm with a memorial service following at 3pm at Marsh Funeral Home. Burial will be private
