Caryl Koepke-May

She was born on October 3, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Herbert and Grace Koepke. She was a graduate of Woodland Grade School, Warren Township High School and then went on to attend Carthage College where she graduated in 1961 with a BA in Education. Caryl taught Home Economics at Warren Township High School from 1963 to 1967. While teaching at the school she met Dr. Edward May with whom she married on June 25, 1966.

After raising her four children she worked at Matigian pre-school and The Camera Bag. Caryl was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an award winning photographer, a honorary member of the Waukegan Rotary Club and a huge supporter of Warren Township High School. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and most of all cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Dr. Edward May; children: Mary, David (Dawn), Marjorie (Bill) and Jennifer. Her grandchildren: Kayleigh (Josh), Brandon (Kelly), Aaron, Cameron, Joshua, Lucas, Ross, Riley, Zachary and Casey; great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Oliver and 1 great-grandbaby due in November; brother David (Patti) Koepke; cousins: Jim Tansor and Tom (Jean) Tansor and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Grace Koepke, brother and sister-in-law Donald & Karen Koepke, and aunt Marjorie Tansor.

The family would like to especially thank every nurse and PCT at Condell Hospital, her CNA's over the years: Pam, Hershey, Puri, Carol, Danielle, Andrea, Jennifer P, Holly, Jennifer L, Amanda and Aishia. A huge thank you to Vitas Hospice, especially the continuous care nurses.

Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Sunday, August 21 at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee. Funeral mass will be at 10 am on Monday, August 22, at Marsh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the family.
