Colette Dolores Dolemba, beloved mother, aunt/great aunt/great-great aunt, and lifelong fighter for the things she held dear, was born in Chicago, IL, on 8.31.36 and passed away in Lake Villa, IL, on 8.27.25 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dolemba; parents, Marie and Andrew Baran; and brother, Ronald Baran, Sr. Colette is survived by her son and only child, Lawrence Dolemba (Douglas Stein) and members of her extended family.
Colette’s life was defined by strength, independence, and perseverance. From an early age, she worked hard to support herself and her family, setting an example of resilience that stayed with her throughout her life. Fiercely independent, she could teach herself almost anything and took pride in being able to fix nearly everything.
She was often the quiet center of her family—steady, strong, and deeply appreciative when others showed kindness. She loved her home and yard and was unwavering in protecting and caring for them. Colette also enjoyed the outdoors from a young age, with a particular love for horses and wide-open spaces rather than closed-in neighborhoods.
Colette also had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, who were truly part of her family.
Life’s pleasures brought her great joy. Colette loved going out to dinner—especially when seafood or steak was on the menu—and was always delighted to save money with her coupons. She treasured her times at her Marco Island timeshare, walking the beach and soaking in the sun. At home, she was known for her Sunday dinners, her love of dark chocolate and desserts, and her dedication to decorating for the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, always marked by finding the perfect tree, decorating her home with the Christmas village, and making a tin or two of homemade kolaczkis.
Known for long conversations that were sometimes hard to end, Colette gave generously of her time and her heart. She will be deeply missed by her son Larry, her extended family, and all who knew her—and forever celebrated.
