Donald R. Mongeau

A proud American Veteran, Donald (Don) R. Mongeau, 87 years old from Gurnee, Illinois passed away August 4, 2024. Don is survived by his three children Marianne, Renee, Rob and his two beloved dogs Sedona and Abe. He is preceded in death by his wife Emily and son Bill.

Don dedicated his life to his Country, Family, and Community. He proudly served his Country for 25 years in both the Army (5) and Navy (20). He retired as a Chief Petty Officer, Interior Communications Electrician Technician. Don also worked for Abbott Laboratories as an Electrician for another 20 years.

Don was positive, happy, joyful, creative, artistic, poet, coach, motorcycle club member, lover of music, fix anything, never complained and always looked for the silver lining. He especially loved to sing Karaoke with his sweetie, Rosemary at the Gurnee American Legion.

He deeply loved his Family. His grandchildren, Kimo, Shannon, Leah, Trevor, Jackie, Michael, Rachael, Josh, Jacob, and McKenzie. His great grandchildren, Amara, Ezra, Gianni, Carter and Asher. He had a special love for Lee, Lisa, Cathy, Zoe, Christy, Ryan, Ashley, Erica, Ruby, Ruth, Chris, Kenny, Terri, his sweetie Rosemary, Grace, Cameron, Parklynn, Jackson and Taytum.

A visitation will take place on Friday August 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, Il.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday August 10, 2024, at 10:00 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 3350 N Delany Rd #1343, Waukegan, Il 60087 followed by burial at Millburn Cemetery 18577 W Millburn Rd, Old Mill Creek, Il 60083.
