

He was born and grew up in Waukegan and graduated from Waukegan East High School in 1978, and in 1982 from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with a degree in computer science. He enjoyed playing clarinet in marching band both in high school and at the university.
In his younger years, George worked as a busboy at the famous Mathon seafood restaurant on the Waukegan lakefront and he also ran the Tidal Wave roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.
During his career at Abbott Laboratories where he worked in the IT department, he also played in the Abbott Golf League. He enjoyed other sports too, including biking with the Wheeling Wheelmen and cross-country skiing. In recent years he became an avid bird watcher.
He was an excellent bass guitarist and enjoyed playing in several bands for a number of years around Lake County with his good friends Rich, Tom, Holly, Gary, Brad, Norm, Steve and other special friends.
He was a member of St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church in Indian Hills, IL and was a eucharistic minister there for many years.
George is survived by his sister Debbie Williams, his brother Dan (Sandra) Williams, their children Marial and Patrick, and extended family including Tony, Karen, Melinda, and Andy Tom, Alexa and Steven Chun, Bill (Debbie) Vanderborg, Gloria Nelson, Ray (Becky) Weston and family, James Calvino, Carol (Fred) Nelson, and all the Williams family cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dolora Williams.
George was a very kind, caring and empathetic person. He did so much to help family and friends over the years and will be remembered for his gentle spirit and thoughtful ways. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be private at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee. Donations may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
