

Gloria McQuaid, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on February 25, 1928, Gloria lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
Gloria was the devoted wife of the late William McQuaid, with whom she shared many cherished years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Faye Ballard, as well as her dear sister, Maxine and son in law, Mark Hanley Sr. She is survived by her loving daughters, Marsha Hanley and Dawn Lemons, who carry on her legacy, as well as her 7 grandchildren and 18 treasured great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
A patient and gentle soul, Gloria had a warmth that endeared her to all who knew her. She had a passion for knitting and needlepoint, creating beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends. Gloria also enjoyed line dancing and remained active and independent throughout her life, taking great pleasure in driving and maintaining her own freedom.
Gloria dedicated much of her time to volunteer work, supporting her church and local children’s organizations. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on her community. Professionally, Gloria was a dedicated bank teller for many years, known for her warm smile and exceptional service.
Her family and friends will forever cherish her memory and miss her presence deeply. A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held in her honor, where loved ones will gather to remember her love, laughter, and kindness. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service for Grace will be held on, Saturday, November 16 at 2:00pm at Grace Methodist Church, 244 E. Center Ave. Lake Bluff, Illinois 60044.
