Harold M. Thompson age 88, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away on June 2, 2014. He was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan to parents Jerome and Lena (Wolf) Thompson and grew up in Mattoon, Wisconsin. A member of America's "Greatest Generation", Harold entered the U.S. Army in 1943 as an 18 year old high school senior and became a Private First Class before being promoted to Corporal, seeing action in both France and Germany during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Harold worked as a maintenance electrician at Chrysler in Kenosha, WI, retiring in October 1988. Harold was preceded in death by wife Gladys and four brothers, Jay, Jerome, Chester and Howard. He is survived by four sisters, Ihone Johnson, June Menting, Martha Hayek, and Shirley Thompson, not forgetting sister-in-law, Chris Thompson, four sons Robert (Val), Keith (Linda), Bruce (Jan), and Brian, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation 10am with services beginning at 11am, June 6 at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee.
