Harvey C. Biddlecom

Harvey C. Biddlecom, 86, formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Condell Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1926 in Waukegan, IL where he spent the majority of his life prior to moving to Libertyville, IL. Harvey was a graduate of the Waukegan High School, class of 1944. Harvey was a World War II veteran (Army) and was based in the Philippines. He sailed through Pearl Harbor enroute shortly after the bombing. Upon returning home, he married his lifelong love, Marjorie Inness. They had been married for 61 years before her passing in 2010. Harvey pursued numerous social interests outside of working for Abbott Laboratories for 46 years. He enjoyed singing throughout his life, participating in the Morris B. Sachs Amateur Hour on radio stations WENR and WCFL on December 29, 1946, and Abbott Laboratories 'Abbott Tune Times' in April 1947. As a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, he sang in the Men's choir for decades and transitioned later in life to singing with the American Union of Swedish Singers (Swedish Glee Club), Waukegan Chapter. He volunteered for many years at the Waukegan Public Library. He was also a member of the Thursday Morning Peacock Breakfast Club. Harvey became a member of the Order of Freemasons, receiving his 32nd degree on April 16, 1948. Harvey was a Past Master of the North Chicago Lodge. He was a past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star along with his wife who was a past Worthy Matron. Harvey is survived by his daughter, Cecilia (Kenneth) Jeep of Pleasant Prairie, WI and Chuck Biddlecom of Boulder, CO and 3 grandchildren, Amelia Jeep, Adam Jeep and Robert Engwer. Visitation 1-2 PM Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 19 at Christ Episcopal Church, 410 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, with the Rev. Eileen Shanley-Roberts, officiating. Private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church C.A.R.E. Fund, a community outreach effort of the church.
