

James (Jim) Edward Gamble, 77, passed away at home on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, in Wadsworth, Illinois. He was born on July 8th, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen Gamble, children, Scott (Kim) Gamble, and Michelle (Brian) Burns; grandchildren, Morgan (Danny) Mateling, Taylor Gamble (Devin Drier), Kyle Burns, and Katelyn Burns; great grandson, Auggie Mateling; brother-in-law, Karl (Kay, deceased) Streed and family; Special family, William (Judy) Vincent, Beverly (Victor, deceased) Brown, Robert (Grace) Vincent, Barbara (Brad) Crow and their families; and many cousins on the east coast. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gamble and Edythe Steel, and his guardians, Helen and Ernie Vincent. He was a friend of Bill W. and was an active member in the program
Jim was a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked at Abbott Laboratories for 28 years before his retirement. Retirement did not slow him down as he went on to work as a Community-Service Officer for the Waukegan Police Department. He was an avid fan of Star Wars movies and collectibles. He enjoyed owning vintage cars and camping at Camp Anokijig in Plymouth, Wisconsin, with his family and friends. Jim was very active in the local community. He coached girls softball and boys baseball for the Waukegan Park District, was a leader in the YMCA Guides and Princesses program, and more recently, he volunteered his time through the 19th Judicial Circuit, the College of Lake County and the Waukegan Citizen's Police Academy. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He could always be found on the sidelines at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of life that will be held from 1pm - 3pm on Sunday, April 27th, at Encore Events (Midlane Country Club) at 4555 W. Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan, Illinois 60085.
