I remember last year I was told this memorial would be up here for a whole year and I could come and write whatever I want. Its taken me this long to think of what I wanted to say. I love you grandpa. You were like a father to me. You helped me through so much. I wish I listened to what you told me to do. I'm sorry for ever talking back or misbehaving. James H Prunty Sr. will be missed! He was a father, a grand father, a husband, a brother, a friend, and even a teacher to many. You will always be in my thoughts! I love and miss you greatly!

I was saddened and surprised to hear about Jim's passing today.  He was a terrific teacher and mentor to me when I began my teaching at Waukegan East.  My thoughts are with you all.

Be assured that Jim had many friends from the class of '52, I being one of them. He was held in the highest of esteem and we shall miss him at our 60th high school reunion, if we are fortunate enough to have one.

My deepest condolences to your family. Mr. Prunty was a wonderful teacher at WEHS and helped shape who I am in the business world today. He was a kind, patient man with innovative ideas and instilled a deep sense of integrity and ethics.  He encouraged me to run for office in the Office Education Club, which gave me an opportunity to attend the Office Education Association of Illinois Leadership Conference as a delegate. This was an exciting and educational experience for me, and I have Mr. Prunty to thank for those treasured high school memories. I am very saddened to hear of his passing, and I will always remember him fondly.

If it were not for Mr. Prunty teaching me, I would not be in the position I am in today, Purchasing Manager.  He made us work very hard in school, and wanted us to be successful in everything we did.  He was always very kind, patient, and never angry. Mr. Prunty was my favorite teacher at Waukegan East Highschool (1983). He taught our Office Education class with gentleness and tolerance....beyond far beyond the norm.  He was the true meaning of gentleman.........  
I have missed him over the years. My heart goes out to his family.  I send them my sincerest regrets and pray that his memory brings them peace.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Your dad was a wonderful man.  He was my typing teacher at East.  I remember him as such a kind and patient man.  There are no words to ease the pain you must feel right now, but I hope the wonderful memories you shared bring you a sense of comfort and peace.  My heart aches for your entire family because losing those we love is never, ever easy.  I'm confident that your family will be surrounded by many family and friends who will do their best to lift up your spirits in celebration of your father's life.  My deepest sympathy to you and your family during this most difficult time.  I wish you brighter days ahead my friend.

Barbara, James and Andrew - I got to spend quite a bit of time talking with Jim at Brownstown a couple of years ago.  We talked about life, kids and grandkids.  I treasure that visit and remember his thoughts and the encouragement that he gave.  Know that I feel your loss.
