

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Carolyn Staley Mota, who left this world on August 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on March 17, 1933, she was the cherished daughter of Carl and Helen Staley, the beloved sister of Carl Staley Jr., who all preceded her in death.
Jane was the devoted wife of J. (Jesus) Richard Mota, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a loving family, raising four children: Michelle (Jose) Sepulveda, Valeri Mota, Karla (Rob) Johnson, and Jay Richard Mota, who preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Angelo (Melissa) Sepulveda, Andrea (Ken) Peacock, Jeffrey Johnson, Matthew (Katie) Johnson, Nathen Johnson, and Maria Johnson, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Layla and Lincoln Peacock.
Jane will be remembered as a woman of deep conviction and faith, always led by God in her actions and decisions. Her honesty, optimism, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Jane's gregarious laugh, joyful spirit, and spunky personality brightened the lives of those around her. She was a multi talented woman as an exceptional cook, seamstress, trained operatic singer, classical pianist, and painter. Her multiple talents brought joy into our daily lives.
She had a remarkable ability to think of the little things that made others feel special and valued. Her thoughtfulness and supportiveness were evident in every aspect of her life, making her a role model to many.
Jane was exceptionally supportive of her husband’s and children’s endeavors; always standing by their side in both personal and professional pursuits. She inspired her family through example with integrity and dignity.
She worked many years with her daughter Karla and son-in-law Rob to help their administrative team thrive. She was an active volunteer within the Lake County community, the Waukegan Public Schools and Our Lady of Humility Parish of Zion. She was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution and the American GI Forum.
Jane was a woman who put things into perspective, helping others see the beauty and meaning in life's challenges. She lived her life full of energy, self determination, independence and with a heart that was always open to others. Her love and care for her family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and dedication, and her memory will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her.
