At this time, we are mourning the loss of John Peter Freeland, who passed on August 22, 2025, at the age of 90. He leaves behind a wife, Jane and three children, Ann, Lisa, and John. He has 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He attended Johns Hopkins and received a medical degree from Baylor. Following residencies in Minnesota and Cleaveland to specialize in Nephrology, John returned to his hometown, Waukegan. He practiced there for many years, and his care touched many people in the community. He helped create the emergency medical services in Lake County, where he was a teacher and mentor for over 25 years. He also, started the first dialysis unit in Lake County, which was a much-needed resource for his patients. He was a caring man who only wanted to help others.
There will be a memorial at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL on Saturday August 30. Visitation from 11-1 and service from 1-2 pm. Flowers handled by Larsen's Florist in Waukegan.
