Joined the Navy in 1960 and retired in 1984. Jack worked in the export business from 1984 until 2004 when he then retired from his civilian job.
He was a member of Millburn United Church of Christ, The Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserve Association and the Retired Navy Musicians Association.
Jack’s love of travel continued after his retirement from the military. His work in the export business allowed him to travel the world.
The church family was an important part of Jack’s life as he willingly accepted leadership positions and donated his musical talents to St. John’s UCC in Waukegan from 1980-1993 and Millburn UCC from 1993 to present.
Cooking was his love and he shared his talent by feeding his family, friends and all the neighbors – either in Waukegan or here in Gurnee (Mayberry). Also, he donated seven course Italian dinners as church auction items.
Books were a passion as he carried his Kindle everywhere to get in a few pages of reading on a bench, in his favorite chair, on the front porch or at cancer treatments.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be on Saturday, September 27th at 10:30 AM at Millburn United Church of Christ, 19073 W Grass Lake Rd, Lake Villa, IL, 847-356-5237. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Millburn United Church of Christ.
