

Josephine Beitzel our beloved mother died on May 14, 2024 at her home in Waukegan after 10 days of home hospice care. She was 96 years old. She was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas, and lived there until her marriage to the love of her life, Francis Beitzel. They resided in Del Rio for about a year before moving to Francis’ home in Illinois. They resided in Waukegan for the remainder of their days. Over the next 13 years they had six children.
Josephine was very active in her church and community serving at the St. Anastasia Church food pantry and St. Joseph Church soup kitchen. She was also a Minister of Care serving the sick and hospitalized. She never turned her back on anyone in need.
Josephine is survived by five of her six children: Christine Harrison (Roger), Carolyn Koivula (Dan), Janet Neal (Jim), Joan Doubek (Jim), Tim Beitzel (Vicki), daughter-law Debbie Beitzel. Also survived by 17 grandchildren: Matthew Harrison, Jeffrey Harrison, Liina Koivula, Laila Koivula-Deleon, Jennifer Brill, Rebecca McCall, Katie Neal, Michael Doubek, Lisa Malek, Brian Doubek, Dawn Beitzel-Allen, Daniel Beitzel, Dana Gersch, Jacob Beitzel, Angelina Gonzales, Anthony Stinson, Chloe Bethards; 28 great grandchildren: Marinda Harrison, Wesley Harrison, Maya Brill, Evie Brill, Donovan Brill, Mallory McCall, Phoebe McCall, Layah Sherrill, Evan Doubek, Elia Doubek, Lucy Malek, Jude Malek, Beatrice Malek, Henry Doubek, Artie Doubek, Jeffrey Allen, Caitlin Allen, Angelina Gersch, Kristian Gersch, Kenneth Gersch Jr, Breanna Stodola, Glenn Clausen, Riley Gonzales, Vincent Gonzales, Sadie Gonzales, Anthony Stinson, Aniyah Stinson, Avani Stinson; 4 great-great grandchildren: Myles Allen, Charlie Allen, Luna Allen, Joey Tokarz. Also survived by four siblings: Daniel Pedrotti, Margaret-Ann Kelly and Louis Pedrotti of Texas, and Jeanette Carpenter of Colorado.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Beitzel, son Daniel Beitzel (Debbie), great grandson Benjamin Walker Beitzel, and great-great granddaughter Mia Tokarz.
We wish to acknowledge and thank Intergrated Palliative and Hospice Libertyville for assisting us in Mom's last days. We also want to give a special thank you to the caregivers who had been taking care of Mom for many years especially Jan Keeton.
Visitation will be Monday, May 20, at 10:00 AM and Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Ave in Waukegan, IL
