

Julio Heredia, 88, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 at The Village at Victory Lakes, Lindenhurst, IL surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Julio was born in Mexico City D.F. on July 12, 1927. As a young man, Julio tried his hand at many things including mountain climbing, acting in movies; cutting hair as a barber and performing as a Matador. He eventually moved to Waukegan, Illinois in 1947 after working on the railroads in Mokena, IL right after WWII. He was employed at National Gypsum and Abbott Laboratories for 40 years.
“Pop J” was a huge hockey fan and loved cheering on the Blackhawks. He loved making the rounds to see all of his children and their families. He will be missed dearly especially his stories and words of wisdom.
Julio was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Carmen who passed away in 1976 and his loving sister Gloria Piňa. He is survived by his brother Dr. Raul (Bertha) Heredia, his children Gloria (Rafael) Murillo, Nancy (Juan) Romero, Julio (Leslie) Heredia, Maria (Ed) Rodbro and Efren (Susan) Heredia, his 14 grand-children Laura (Sonny) Hamelin, Julie Murillo, Erik Murillo, Natalie (Craig) Stencil, Cristina (Nelson) Ronquillo), Drew (Nicola) Heredia, J.J. (Kate) Heredia, Jordyn Heredia, Katie (Dan) Dormont, Ashley Rodbro, Emma Rodbro, Seth (Christine) Heredia, Alec Heredia, Kyleigh Heredia, his 9 great-grand children Marcos, Alex and Elisa Hamelin, Samuel Stencil, Danny and Jerry Ronquillo, Liv and Taylor Heredia and Fitzgerald Heredia.
A special thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the Village of Victory Lakes who cared for him like a family member.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00pm followed by a memorial service immediately following on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Marsh Funeral Home Gurnee, IL
