Maria Hernandez Trujillo

Maria was born on September 30, 1973 and grew up in Mexico as one of the beloved younger siblings in a family of eleven. While she was small, Maria was mighty and a fierce protector of her sisters. For 33 years, she made Waukegan her home, where she embraced life with passion. She made long lasting memories with her sisters and extended family. Her authentic self, sense of humour, pursuit of adventure and her love of dance brought everyone together. She was the most caring and loving mother, who loved spending weekends with her family, and enjoyed drinking a good cup of coffee with her comadre, Miriam.

She was the loving mother of three: Antonio, Emmanuel & Lesly, grandmother of five: Edmy, Angelo, Damian, Ivan & Gael, and godmother to Mia. Maria is survived by her life partner and husband Alberto Arzate. She left behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. She will live forever in our hearts, la luz y la reina de la familia.

Es con profundo dolor que la familia comparte que María Elena Hernández-Trujillo de Arzate falleció después de luchar contra el cáncer durante más de dos años el sábado 11 de enero del 2025.

María nació el 30 de septiembre de 1973 y creció en México como una de las queridas hermanas menores dentro de una familia de once. Aunque Maria era pequeña, ella era poderosa y una feroz protectora de sus hermanas. Durante 33 años, hizo de Waukegan su hogar, donde abrazó la vida con pasión. Hizo recuerdos duraderos con sus hermanas y su familia extendida. Su forma de ser, su sentido del humor, su búsqueda de aventuras, y su amor por la danza unieron a todos. Era la madre más cariñosa, le encantaba pasar los fines de semana con su familia y a menudo disfrutaba tomar un buen café con su comadre, Miriam.

Era la amorosa madre de tres hijos: Antonio, Emmanuel y Lesly, abuela de cinco: Edmy, Angelo, Damian, Ivan y Gael, y madrina de Mia. A María le sobrevive su compañero de vida y esposo Alberto Arzate. Dejó un legado de risas, amor y recuerdos inolvidables. Por siempre vivira en nuestros corazones, la luz y reina de la familia.

A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Most Blessed Trinity Parish; Holy Family Catholic Church, 450 Keller Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048.
