Mellonie Kaye (Rankin) Hoffman, of South Bend, Indiana, born on April 11, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late C. Joann Edens, passed away at age 65 on May 30, 2018 in Fox Lake, Illinois. She was a singer and artist who was always looking for new creative outlets. Her final project was a mandala collage that that will be completed by her daughter Katherine. Mellonie was the devoted wife of Thomas Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa. Mellonie is survived by her sons, Joseph Allgaier and Lucas Hoffman; daughters, Valency (Michele) Muldoon and Katherine Hoffman; brother, James Edens; sister, Stephanie Schmidt; and grandchildren, Morgan and Maeve. Mellonie opened her heart and home to both animals and friends, especially those in need and will be missed by many. A private visitation was held for immediate family at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL. A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held at a future date.
