Ruby E. Payne

Ruby E. Payne, Age 90, of Gurnee, IL passed away October 24, 2014 at Condell Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1924 in Booneville, MS. Ruby was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in North Chicago and most currently attended Gages Lake Bible Church. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and son-in-law, Gage Hughes; granddaughters, Valerie (Paul) Larson, Shannon (Matthew) Clancy, and Holly (Allen) Strasburger; and 9 great-grandchildren. She lived a life of caring and doing for others; a friend to many. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Payne; daughter, Rhonda Joy; parents, Jesse and Eula Shamlin; sisters, Virginia McCorkle and Arbie Miller; brother, Jerry Shamlin. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 with a service following at 11:30 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, Gurnee, IL. The familly would like to thank the doctors and staff of Zion Aurora Clinic for years of excellent care, and to Dr. Go and the staff of Advocate Condell for the gentle and thoughtful care Ruby received while there.
