

Vic is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Ed and his brother Franklin. As a child he lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Kansas. In seventh grade his family moved to Wildwood, IL. In 1964 he graduated from Warren Township High School, Gurnee, IL. He attended Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO, receiving a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1968. Vic attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 1973. He met his wife Laurel in graduate school where they were married in 1972.
Vic spent a 30 year career at Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, IL in pharmaceutical development, PPD. In 1987 he was inducted into the Volweiler Society honoring Abbott’s most distinguished scientists and engineers. Among his many accomplishments he was most proud of his contribution to the development of lifesaving drugs Survanta a lung surfactant for newborn infants and Leuprolide for prostrate cancer.
Vic and Laurel retired from Abbott in 2003. They enjoyed many years of travel and skiing throughout Europe and the United States, birdwatching and gardening. He was a longtime board member of the Lake County Audubon Society. Vic will be missed by his many work colleagues, his friends and family, and his little dog Zoey.

Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
