Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of Abraham and Pauline Sheintop. Bette was a world traveler and bon vivant whose mantra was to “live life to the fullest.” Bette lived for over 40 years in Jersey City, New Jersey and commuted to New York City where she was a key person in a successful furniture company. After her beloved husband Martin passed away in 1984, Bette returned to West Hartford to be closer to her family. Uncle Martin and Aunt Bette were the fun and loving surrogate parents to their beloved nephews, niece, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces. Family excursions with Uncle Martin, Aunt Bette and their untrained but ever-present wire haired fox terrier Bo produced life-long memories.
Bette is survived by her niece, Diane Camblor, her nephews, Alan Sogolow, Michael Sogolow, Robert Salad and his wife Phyllis, David Sheintop and his wife Linda, Andrew Sheintop, her great-nieces, Emily Pantilione and her husband Michael, Marina Soverns and her husband Chris, Lauren Sheintop, Sofia Sheintop, her great-nephews Michael Salad and his wife Jennifer, Jeremy Myers and his wife Paulina, Jay Sheintop, her great-great nieces Capriana Pantilione and Julia Salad and her great-great nephews Leonardo Pantilione, Joshua Salad and Damian Myers. Bette was predeceased by her loving husband Martin. She was also predeceased by her brother Herbert Sheintop and her sisters, Roslyn Faust and Irma Salad. Funeral arrangements are private.
