Edna Z Spiegel

Edna is survived by her children, Linda Spiegel Duboff and Paul Duboff of Emerson, New Jersey, Joyce Spiegel (Prizer) of Montclair, New Jersey, and Bennett Spiegel and Lise Friedman Spiegel of Encino, California, as well as her grandchildren, Joshua Duboff, Hilary Prizer, Jamie Prizer, Jesse Prizer, Zachary Spiegel, Melanie Spiegel, and Stephanie (Spiegel) Najarian, and her great-grandchildren, Maya Duboff Sharnak and Gabriela Duboff Sharnak.She is also survived by her sister, Madeline Cohen (Joost).

Edna was married to Rubin E. Spiegel from June 29, 1952 until Rubin died on November 20, 2010. A native of New York City, Edna attended the High School of Music & Art, and earned both a Bachelor’s Degree, and Master’s Degree in Music Education at New York University in the mid-late 1940’s. She then served as a music and choral educator for the Board of Education of the City of New York for thirty years, primarily at the Elizabeth Barrett Browning Junior High School #115 in the Bronx.

At the age of 53, Edna enrolled as a full time student at the Seton Hall University School of Law, from which she graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree several years later. She became a member of the Bar of the State of New Jersey, admitted to both its State and Federal Courts as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Edna practiced law in New Jersey with an emphasis on Elder Law and Wills and Trusts until her retirement in her early 80’s. Edna resided at the Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale, New Jersey from March 2010 until her death.

A funeral service will be held at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah located at 735 Forest Ave Paramus, NJ 07652, on January 28, 2026 at 11:30 am.

Immediately following the funeral service, a committal service will take place at Beth El Cemetery, located at 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652, on January 28, 2026 at 12:15PM.
