He was born in 1934 to Morris and Ethel Rebensaft in Brooklyn, New York. In his youth, he met the love of his life, Helene, in their neighborhood, and the two were married in 1956. Together, they moved to Hagerstown, Maryland, where he learned and dedicated himself to the art of clothing production, a craft he pursued with passion for many years. Eventually they settled in Englewood, New Jersey, where they built a lifetime of memories together.
Emanuel was a loving and devoted husband from the very start, and a proud father to Michele (Kenny), Liz, and Marc (Lori). He also shared a unique and deep bond with each of his seven grandchildren—Philip, David, Rachel (Spencer), Jared, Rebecca, Halle, and Abbie. Emanuel eagerly celebrated every milestone in their lives, whether it was visiting day at camp, cheering them on at their youth sports events, enjoying family meals around the table, or attending their graduations. Grandpa Manny’s greatest joys came from these moments spent with his grandchildren. His love united our family, and it will continue to keep us connected for generations to come.
Emanuel’s kindness and warmth touched everyone he met. His gentle spirit and compassion made those around him feel special, and his great sense of humor radiated through even the toughest of times. Family was always his greatest priority, second only to his love for sports and food. He also had a deep appreciation for opera, enjoyed attending shows, and had a special love for dogs.
