Judith Sara Crystal

Born on October 2, 1949, in Paterson, New Jersey, Judith was the beloved daughter of Marsha (Jasinowski) and Maurice Ryzman, both of whom preceded her in death.

Judy graduated from Elmwood Park Memorial High School in 1967 and went on to attend The Ohio State University, graduating in 1972. She later earned her Master’s degree from Temple University in 1973.

On June 11, 1972, Judy married the love of her life, Howard Crystal. Together they built a loving family and shared more than five decades of marriage.

Judy devoted her professional life to helping children as a speech and language pathologist in elementary schools. She eventually found her true professional home working as the speech therapist in a preschool classroom for children with autism, where her patience, compassion, and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families she served.

She was an extremely devoted mother to her children, Shana (Eli) Segal and Adam (Lee Park) Crystal, and a proud and loving grandmother to Sidney, Gabriella, and Nathaniel Crystal and Micah, Asher, and Zavi Segal.

Judy is also survived by her siblings, David (Martha Rand) Ryzman and Jacqueline (Arnold Gold) Ryzman, along with extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Judy made friends wherever she went and had a special gift for making people feel loved and cared for. She was funny, warm, and an excellent judge of character. She loved knitting, cooking—especially making her chicken soup—reading, and finding or making the perfect thing for the people she loved. People will always remember her warmth and her beautiful dimpled smile that brightened every room. To her family, she was simply the best mom ever.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Service will be held 12:30 PM at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, (corner of Park & Passaic) Hackensack, NJ 07601, with a live stream available at https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/judith-s-crystal.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market St, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663, US, on March 13, 2026.

Friends attending may arrive at 11:45PM for ample time to pay respects to the family. Our parking lot is opposite the funeral home on Park Street.
