

Theresa “Terry” Sherman died on December 15, 2023, in Bethesda, Maryland, at the age of 91, after suffering a stroke. Born in New York City to Ann and Samuel Seidenberg on June 13, 1932, Terry was raised in the Bronx. She was a graduate of Hunter College High School and attended Hunter College. On December 9, 1950, Terry married the love of her life, Daniel “Danny” Sherman. Their marriage lasted over 50 years, ending when Danny died in October 2001. They moved to Whitestone, a town in Queens, New York, in 1957, and raised their two children there. Terry worked for many years at Republic National Bank on Fifth Avenue, where she served as a senior compliance officer. She was a proud and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Two years after her husband died, Terry moved to Rockville, MD, to be closer to family members living in Maryland.
A woman of boundless intellectual curiosity, she devoured books about art, history, and politics. She loved museums, classical music, and opera. She was a patron of the Metropolitan Opera, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. When her children were growing up, she organized outings for the family to attend free performances by the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera in the city parks. She was active in the League of Women Voters in New York, and the Jewish Community Center of Rockville. She enjoyed Politics and Prose book talks in Washington, DC.
She is survived by her two children, Vicki Sherman Leemon (Mark Leemon) of Kensington, MD, and Steven I. Sherman, MD (Janine Sherman) of Houston, Texas, her brother, Boyd Seidenberg, MD (Mary Seidenberg) of Saddle River, NJ , and her grandchildren, Laura Leemon (Scott Johnson) of Middle River, MD, Samuel Leemon of Bowie, MD, Julia Sherman (Nadav Pessach) of Brooklyn, NY, Michael Sherman (Molly Joseph) of Los Angeles, California, and Rosie Sherman of Brooklyn, NY.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 am, Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Gutterman & Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
