Aldora Broussard

— 96, passed away peacefully at home in Halifax with her family by her side Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Born in Illes de la Madeleine, Que., she was a daughter of the late William and Marie (Gaudet) Desjardins. Aldora was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. With her unique French accent she was a one-of-a-kind character who was embraced by all. She was proud of her family and bestowed them with unconditional love. While her death has left a void, she will be forever mourned, family friends and acquaintances are left with countless precious memories. Aldora is survived by daughters, Jeanette (Reid) MacLean, Bedford; Sheila, Halifax; Joan (Brian), Vancouver, B.C.; son, John, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Theresa, White's Lake; granddaughters, Michelle (Mike) MacLean, Terence Bay; Marianne (Stephen) Sperling, Omemee, Ont.; Mark (Hyun-Ju) MacLean, South Korea; great-grandsons, Matthew and Maxwell Sperling, Omemee, Ont.: great-granddaughter, Hwi-Jin MacLean, South Korea; sister, Donalda Gaudet, Sackville, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, William; sons, Bernard and Leonard; brothers, André (Montreal), Willie (Verdun, Que.); Evrade (Chicoutimi, Que.), and Azade; sisters, Philomene Harvey (Illes de la Madeleine), Evangeline Thibeault (Chicoutimi, Que.), Florida Aucoin (Halifax), Clophée and Alvina. Visitation will take place in Cruikshanks Funeral Home, Robie Street, Halifax, N.S., from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. Service will be held in St. John the Baptist Church, Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax, 11 a.m., Saturday, February 13, Father Allan MacDonald and Father Lloyd O'Neill officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Special thanks are extended to Dr. H. Conter, the Heart Failure Clinic staff in particular Rosalind Benoit; Community Services staff and doctors; Palliative Care Team; VON staff and all the Home Care Workers from the Red Cross and RJF Health Care Services who worked so caringly and were so dedicated to her needs.
