

GEDDES, Catharine Verna - 90, Halifax, passed away June 6, 2017, in Saint Vincent's Nursing Home. Born in Strathroy, ON, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Finlay) Scott. She was a long time resident of Halifax since 1950. She served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service as a Torpedo Anti-Submarine Rate then as an Administrative Writer. She also worked at Cleveland Industries, and the Victoria General Hospital in Admitting and Bookkeeping, then at Hematology as an office supervisor. She became Secretary of the former H.M.C.S. Haida Association (now known as Friends of Haida), and was a member of the Nova Scotia Wren Association, and the Atlantic Chief and Petty Officer's Association. She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her twin daughters Pamela and Patricia (partner Jim Lane) and several nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Donald and sister Barbara. Cremation has taken place. A private committal will take place at 11am June 12,2017 at St. John's Cemetery and Columbarium, 6 Bedford Highway with Reverend Michael Koslowski officiating. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Fund or the Chapel Fund of Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, or the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia. Special people in Mom's journey include Dr. Graeme Bethune, Paulette Cromwell, Cindy Shaw, Madeline Bright, Calvin Presbyterian Church Pastoral Care Committee, and Saint Vincent's Nursing Home's caring staff, management, volunteers, and residents.
