

Cecil Edgar Boutilier died peacefully at home in Hatchet Lake on Sunday, February 9, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. A loving husband, father and grandfather, a dedicated and fiercely loyal friend, an accomplished fisherman, and a tireless jack-of-all-trades, he is survived by his faithful companion Joyce Olmstead, son Craig and daughter Lisa, and leaves behind two grandchildren, Ella and Kira. Born in Pleasant Harbour in 1937, he was the son of Basil and Amy Boutilier. He married Carol Elaine (nee: Power), deceased 2003, his loving wife of 41 years, in 1962. They moved to Stamford, Connecticut in 1964 and returned to Nova Scotia in 1968, where Cecil worked for the Halifax County School Board until his retirement in 1998. He was an active parishioner of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Hatchet Lake, a member of the Eureka Lodge, No. 42, F. & A. M. for nearly 35 years, and a member of the Queen Esther Chapter, No.61, Order of the Eastern Star for 25 years, where he served as Past Patron several times and Grand Representative to the State of Oklahoma. Visitation will be held at Cruickshank’s Funeral Home, on Wednesday, Feb.12, from 7PM-9PM, preceded by an Eastern Star memorial service at 6:30PM. The funeral service will be held at 2PM, Thursday, Feb. 13, at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, Hatchet Lake. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Lung Association.
