

Montle, Charles M (Chuck) 1921-2011 of Halifax passed away peacefully April 26th at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital Halifax. Born in Richford, Vermont he was the only child of the late Charles and Lena Montle. Chuck was raised in Quebec where he received his early education and on the job training as a Marketing Executive. During WWII he served in the Royal Canadian Navy and saw active service out of Halifax aboard a Fairmile defense and escort vessel. He met his first wife Marion during this period of his life and after the War she returned with him from Cape Breton to Montreal. An offer of a position with Imperial Advertising in Halifax brought them back to this port city in 1958 where they raised their three children and spent the remainder of their lives together until Marion’s death in 1988.Chuck will be remembered by the marketing and advertising community for his conscientious service on behalf of many of the Atlantic regions’ leading manufacturing and service companies including, Sobeys, Morses Tea, Moosehead Beer, Dover Flour and Nova Scotia Power Corporation. In later years Chuck would run his own successful advertising agency and enjoy a reputation as an honest, highly regarded and valued member of the Atlantic Business Community. His activities in the field of community service included the presidency of the N.S. division of the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, a member of the Board of Trade, Advertising and Sales Club, Waegwoltic Club and R.N.S.Y.S. A long time member of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, former leading seaman Montle opted for the pleasures of good conversation in the dining room rather than the enticements of the open ocean. Survived by his second wife of 18 years Marie(Jensen-Kirby), with whom he shared a love of symphony concerts and long drives in the countryside, Children; Gary (Rhonda) Montle, Calgary, Alberta, Linda (Roy) MacFarlane, Halifax , son-in-law Bob (Debbie) Delvallet, Halifax, Stepdaughter, Sharon (Brian) Langille, Port Elgin, Ontario; grandchildren Rob (Heidi) Delvallet, Halifax Deanne (Bill) Scollard, Halifax and Whitney Montle, Calgary, Alberta, Laura (Daniel) Chapman, Toronto, Ontario, Scott Langille, Port Elgin Ontario, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and long time friend and confidant Barry Cowling. Chuck was predeceased by his first wife Marion (Taylor) infant son Charles and daughter Carol (Delvallet). Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 30th at 2:00 PM in Cruikshank’s’ Halifax Funeral Home 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Rev. Nolan Lee officiating.
