

Benteau, Chesley Joseph - 81, born on March 28th, 1931 in Lord’s Cove, Newfoundland passed away peacefully on June 22, 2012 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was the son of the late Chesley and Estella (Isaacs) Benteau. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years Theresa (Brussard), son Michael (Lucina), daughters Donna, Karen (David) and Rhonda, sisters Janie, Stella and Maude and grandchildren Mitchell, Matthew, Chadd, Allison, Lauren, Alex and Catherine. Ches was predeceased by brothers Bertram, Pius, Herbert, Garfield and Michael and sister Mary-Celeste. Ches was a welder by trade and worked at the Halifax Shipyards for 36 years. He enjoyed gardening, berry picking, reading his newspaper and reminiscing about old times with his siblings and friends but his greatest joy came from sharing his time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Ches was a wonderful person and a true family man. His kind and gentle nature will be forever missed by his family and friends. God bless our beautiful mother for taking such special care of our father over the last 5 ½ years during his time of need. Also thanks to the kind and supportive staff at the Dixon Center Dialysis Unit and to Fr. Gerald David for his prayers and comforting words. Visitation will be held at Cruikshanks Funeral Home located at 2666 Windsor Street on Monday June 25th from 7PM-9PM. Funeral mass will be held at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church (formerly Saint Stephen’s Church) located at 6032 Normandy Drive on Tuesday June 26th at 10AM.
