

MAKRIDIS, Damianos - 85, Halifax, passed away peacefully Friday, September 24 at The QE II Halifax Infirmary with his family by his side. Born in Pireas, Greece, he was the son of the late Aristidis and Maria (Metaxa) Makridis.
Damianos immigrated to Canada in 1956. He was married to Eleni on July 26, 1962. He was a long time entrepreneur in the Halifax area, most recently with One Hour Martinizing in partnership with his brother, Christopher. Damianos will always be remembered as an avid player of lotto 649 with family and friends.
Survived by his wife of 48 years, Eleni (Scopelites); son, Aristidis, Halifax; daughters, Maria (George) Eleftheros, Halifax; Lefki (Yiorgos) Vonapartis, Athens, Greece; grandchildren, Theodore, Panagiota and Eleni, of Halifax, Elias and Damian, Athens, Greece; sister, Sophia (Kosta) Lambropoulos, Athens, Greece; many nieces and nephews both here in Canada and in Greece.
Predeceased by brother, Christopher; sisters, Angela and Kyriaki.
Visitation will be held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM Monday, September 27 at Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie Street. Funeral service will take place 2 PM Tuesday, September 28 at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 38 Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax. Interment will follow at Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Damianos may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or St. George's Greek Orthodox Church.
