

Gloria Marion Magahay (Rhodenizer), aged 81, died peacefully on August 1, 2017 at Ivy Meadows Continuing Care, Beaver Bank, NS. Gloria was born July 4, 1936, in Bridgewater, NS, the daughter of James and Marion Rhodenizer (Weagle, Beeler).
Gloria raised five daughters and would do anything at the drop of a hat for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gloria was an active member at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and served for several years as an Area Commissioner with the Girl Guides Organization. She loved to be busy and shared her talents as a seamstress, oil painter, and baker, running a successful cheesecake business for a time. In her younger years, Gloria was a Manager at Charm Jewelery and this is where she met her husband Ronald G. Magahay who passed away last year.
Gloria is remembered with love by her family: her daughters, Rosemary Pick (Greg), Christina Dempsey, Cathy Otto, and Nicole Angus (Fraser); her step-children Wendy Magahay (Garry) and Paul Magahay (Deb); her grandchildren Shane, Jessica, Courtney, Brittany, Riley and Stephen, and four great grandchildren; and her sisters Faye Slaunwhite and Linda Corkum, and brother Aubrey Rhodenizer. Gloria was predeceased by her daughter Colette Boulton (Darrell).
There will be a visitation Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, NS
