Gregory Gerald Hayes

A lifelong entrepreneur, Greg operated Rooters Clothing and Atlantic Wipers on Agricola Street for many years. His next venture, Hayes Antiques on McCully Street, with his son Greg Jr., and continued until his illness. The business remains in operation today under Greg Jr.’s care—a source of great pride for Greg.

Greg is survived by his devoted life partner of 53 years, Deborah (Upshaw), and his son Greg Jr. & Cassey of Halifax. He will be fondly remembered by close friends George Negus and Paul Corbett. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Hayes, aunts Dorothy and Mary, grandparents Owen and Mary Hayes, and many beloved pets.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1pm at Fairview Lawn Cemetery, 3720 Windsor St in Halifax, NS.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation, SPCA, or a charity of your choice.

The family extends thanks to Dr. Patrick Casey and Dr. Ronald Killeen for their many years of care, as well as the staff at the QEII, Lucy, and the Home Care team.
