

Born 1930 in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Barrie and Mary “Molly” Robb.
Gwen attended Quinpool Road, LeMarchant and Queen Elizabeth High Schools. Following business school she worked as a comptometer operator (first commercial key-driven mechanical calculator) at Imperial Oil. She was happily married for 46 years to the late Cyril “Bunker” Hill. Gwen, a former choir member of St. George’s Anglican Church, was an active member of St. James Anglican Church since 1964. She spent many years as the Sunday School breakfast coordinator, tea convener for the St. James Social Club, member of St. James Bowling League and volunteer canvasser for many charities.
Gwen is survived by daughter, Pam McDonald and husband Allen McDonald, Cole Harbour; beloved grandchildren, Kimberlea and Gregory McDonald, both of Cole Harbour; two “special” little girls who called her “Great Nanny”, Briar and Lilly and three nephews. She will be missed by her special fur babies, Cleo the cat and Rusty the dog.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bunker and lifelong best friend, Mary Stevens.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 12 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Memorial service will be Friday, November 13 at 2pm in St James Anglican Church, Rev. Rachael Parker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Camphill Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted. Donations in her name may be made to SPCA or Hope for Wildlife.
