

MARSMAN, Ivy May — 85, of Halifax, passed away at home on March 27, 2010. Born in Africville, she was a daughter of the late John Carvery and Matilda Newman. Ivy was a homemaker and a mother to many children, as well as her own. All were welcome in her home and were treated the same and in return everyone called her Mom and treated her with much respect. She cared for many family members until their death. She was always there for those seeking help. Her presence will be greatly missed. She is survived by daughters, Velma and Amanda; sons, Arthur, Bruce (Dawn), Granville (Dianne), Tony (Crystal), and Randall; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clement Truman; sons, Carl and Paul Marsman; sisters, Annabelle Johnson and Thelma Clayton; niece, Joanne Stewart; nephews, Eric Downey and Jason Stewart. A special thank you to the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Emergency Staff and paramedics, Anthony and Mike. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, in Cruikshank's Halifax, Funeral Home, 2032 Robie St. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 31, at 11 a.m., in Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, Rev. Rhonda Britton officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.
