It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of J. Joyce Guest, age 89 of Halifax, on May 5, 2016 in the Maplestone Enhanced Care Facility. She was born on October 11, 1926 in Halifax, daughter of the late James and Alice (Sinclair) Guest.
Joyce was a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University and was a lifelong resident of North End Halifax, where she taught Grade Three at St. Stephen’s Elementary for her entire career.
Joyce is survived by a number of cousins, including: Catherine (Robert) Doucette, Diane Smith, and Robin Crandall. She was predeceased by her brother Jimmy and his wife, Helen.
There will be no visitation at Joyce’s request. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 6032 Normandy Drive, Halifax on Thursday, May 12 at 11AM with Father Paul MacIntosh officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS or to a charity of your choice.
