
Joe was born on March 7th 1947 in Pockin Poland, the son of Holocaust survivors Morris and Esther Strug. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Esther. He is survived by his wife Susan (Rose) Strug, and children Andrea and Stephanie, his father Morris and brothers Willard (Annette) and Stanley (Cynthia) and 4 nieces and 6 nephews.
Joe was gifted with a curious and brilliant mind and excelled at both academic and athletic pursuits. He grew up in Halifax and was a graduate of Dalhousie University with a BSc and BEd. He taught high school in Nova Scotia prior to joining the family real estate business. He was a bridge bronze life master and was widely recognized for his outstanding contribution to bridge in the region.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00pm at Shaar Shalom Synagogue (1981 Oxford Street at Pepperell) with shiva to follow at 376 Francklyn Street Thursday, Sunday, Monday 2-4, 7-9 and Friday 2-4, all are welcome.
No flowers by request donations, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada or charity of your choice.
