

Hall (Purdy), Joyce Florence – 90, passed away on May 16, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Born on July 26, 1922, on Devil’s Island, she was the daughter of the late Iva and James Purdy. Mom enjoyed her years working with the CNR. She loved to play bingo, collecting antiques, but her biggest treasures in life were her family, children, and grandchildren. Her home on McCully Street became famous for kitchen music and jiving, as well as countless games of cards. She is survived by her daughter Diane Bailey (the late Gerald MacDonald); grandchildren, Dale Dove, John Bailey, Christopher Hall, Meaghan Cox (Marcelo), Jacey Cox; great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Daniel Burbridge, John Bailey, Jr., and her special friend Mr. Kitty.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband John Hall, daughter, Leta Hall, son, John “Bo” Hall, as well as four brother and four sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, in Cruikshank Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, from 10 a.m. until her funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
