

Ward, Lawrence Allan - 93, of Stillwater Lake, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at QE11 Health Sciences Centre. He was the son of William and Rosannah (Messenger) Ward, Montreal. He was a veteran of the Second World Wars. While working on the construction of the Halifax Vocational School in 1948 he was asked to come and teach at the school when it opened. He taught there for 35 years influencing the lives of many students. Larry was a member of Local 56 Plumbers and Steam Fitter’s Union for 64 years. He served as President for many years and worked hard to make improvements within the industry. While working at the Vocational School he coached football and hockey, he was involved in Junior Football in Halifax and was one of the founders of the Halifax Minor Football League. He was also a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his son Lawrence (Pat), Middle Musquodoboit, Sister Rosannah Moser, Fairfax, Virginia, three loving grandchildren; James, Toronto, Lisa (Rob) Halifax, Andrea, (Matt), Sackville, N.B. and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by the love of his life Agnes who he was married to for 57 years, son Andrew, daughter-in-law Kathy. There will be no visitation. A service will be held at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2032 Robie Street, Halifax, Monday, June 21 at 11:00 am. A reception will be held at Cruikshank’s after the service, interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
