

Carvery, Leo St. Clear, It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one. Leo died peacefully Friday March 10, 2017. Born in Africville to the late Harry & Viola Carvery (Paris).
Member of the Canadian Army where he performed active duty and was a cook. Also employed by the Department of National Defense from 1975 to 1995 he then retired. A competitive boxer then moved on to refereeing. Enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and watching movies, boxing and king Kong were favorites. Leo was also known as the sheriff of Africville.
Survived by; wife Virginia; Children, Tamra, Leo Jr. (Kathy), Pandora; Special Children: Keem, Keonte, and Keondra; Grandchildren, Sachia, Michael, Justice, Bishop, Safarah and Kegan; Three great grandchildren; Brother Garnet (Ella); Sister's, Rayola & Stella; God sons, Michael and Shaquille as well as Several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers Earl, James, Vernon, Gordon, Freddy & Harold; Sister's, Rosita, Regalia & Christine; God daughters Mahogany & Anita and special niece, Deborah Dixon.
Visitation will be held Sunday March 26, 2017 at Cruickshank Funeral Home in Halifax from 2-4 and 7- 9. Funeral Service Monday, March 27 from Cornwallis Street Baptist Church @ 11:00 am Dr. Rhonda Britton officiating assisted by Pastor Edward Simmonds. Burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Sackville Nova Scotia. Donations can be made in memory of Leo Carvery Sr. to the Alzheimer’s or Diabetes Society.
