It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sister Mary Mildred Deborah Barrie, age 65, on Sept 22, 2014. Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Adrian and Marguerite (LeBlanc) Barrie of Sydney Mines. In her early years, Debby attended school in Florence, Cape Breton, then completed high school at Riverview High. She graduated from Cape Breton Business College as a medical secretary. Debby worked at QEII Health Sciences Centre for 40 years as an Administrative Assistant in Ambulatory Care and surgical specialities. She had a strong work ethic and ensured everything had a high standard of presentation and timeliness. Many departments appreciated the yearly QEII calendars she prepared. For years she received joy from her random acts of kindness to so many QEII employees, no matter their position. Debby gave a lot more to others than she asked for herself. Her young at heart nature came out when she planned fun activities and prizes for our parties. Her gift wrapping was an art of perfection and a gift in itself. She was such a giggler and we have fond memories of watching her laugh until she cried over so many situations. Deb, you may have tried to keep your gentle and generous spirit a secret: not so, your loving soul was known to all. You earned your wings long ago. She is survived by her sisters Dianne West, Dartmouth and Elaine Veinotte, Mahone Bay , her brother-in-law David “darling” Veinotte, Mahone Bay; niece Raeanne Tasco (Hollett) Dartmouth; Grandnieces Porscha, Jalen; grandnephews Cory, Thomas. She is preceded by her parents, infant brother Adrian Keith, brother-in-law Keith West. Cremation has taken place.
