

Melanie MacInnis, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed peacefully Nov 2, 2021. Born in Montreal on November 18, 1964, Melanie is predeceased by her father John Hugh MacInnis and her sister Virginia Howard. As well, she is predeceased by her maternal grand-parents Viola and John Tobin.
Melanie is survived by her mother Mary MacInnis, her sister Patricia MacInnis, (Bruce Dowdle). She is also survived by her niece Julia Howard, her nephew Eddie Howard and her brother-in-law Ken Howard.
Raised on Cape Breton Island, Melanie spent many years studying Highland Dancing at The Forrester School of Dance, traveling across Nova Scotia for dance competitions. She lived several years in the city of Toronto, eventually returning to Halifax, to the city she loved where she could spend time with her family, especially her niece and nephew.
Melanie lived life on her own terms always with an expression of her beautiful free spirit. A generous and kind soul, quick-witted with an appreciation of great humour along with a passion for music and dance, and a devoted love for animals and nature. With all of the life challenges she faced, her spirit was never broken. She left this world on her own terms exemplifying fierce bravery and courage.
