Nathanel Ernest Welsh

— October 3, 1986 - January 1, 2010. Peacefully in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, Nathanel passed away at the age of 23. He was the son of Daphne Desmond (Les), Ernie Thomas (Joanne), Anthony Welsh (Lissa) and a loving partner of Stephanie and father of Nashawn and Lariah. Nathanel loved spending time talking about and being with his children, playing basketball and hanging out with his numerous friends. He has touched many lives during his journey and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his parents; children, Nashawn and Lariah; sister, Marquita Welsh, Dartmouth; grandparents, Myrna Desmond, Halifax; Clarence Desmond (Doreen), Moncton, N.B.; aunts, Darlene Kircher (Peter), Newfoundland; Vivian Dixon (Terry), Tracey Thomas, both of Halifax; uncles, Dwain Desmond (Cheryl), Petawawa; Darrel Desmond (Sharon), Dartmouth; Michael Mansfield (Laura), Halifax; godparents, Darlene and Peter Kircher, Newfoundland; Maurice and Gloria Hines, New Jersey, along with several cousins. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Betty Paris and Ernie Thomas and great-grandmother, Dorothy (Dot) Paris. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., today, January 5, in J.A. Snow Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, at 11 a.m., in The Blessed Mother Teresa Parish, 6032 Normandy Dr., Halifax, officiated by Father Gilbert J. Bertrand. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust fund for Nathanel's children at the Credit Union on Lady Hammond Road.
