Nora Matilda Joudrey

Joudrey, Nora M. – of Halifax, passed away on April 29, 2017 in Halifax. Born in Saintfield, Northern Ireland, on June 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Jane (Davidson) Rea. Nora was forever grateful for the love and guidance of her grandmother Davidson. Upon arriving in Canada, the family settled in Mount Stewart, P.E.I., a place that continued to be a special place throughout Nora’s life. After a period of time in Prince Edward Island, Nora relocated to Toronto where she worked with General Engineering as a war production job instructor. She was then employed by Canada Wire and Cable located in Leaside, Ontario. Nora was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Douglas (Doug), with whom she shared many happy times motoring across Canada. Over the years Nora and Doug also made several visits to her former home in Ireland where they enjoyed the company of many relatives and friends. Nora was also predeceased by her daughter, Gladys Susan Coleen. Surviving are nieces Margaret(Barnett), Barbara(Brown), Nora(Schroeder), Linda(Hansen),June(McIntyre), Alice(Logan), Marion(Hill), Lorraine(Rehling), Wanda(Ciantar), nephews Budd(Brown), James(Brown), Alvin(Pettipas), Frank(Kollar), Jamie(Rea), and sister-in-law Florence Rea. Nora was also godmother to her great-niece Tara Sparkes. Special thanks to Dr. H. Mishra for his excellent care and compassion over the years. Nora would also like to extend her appreciation to the nurses and staff of Parkland, Clayton Park, for their kindness and support during her stay at Bradford Hall. Funeral services will be held at the Anglican Church of the Apostles (formerly St. Philip’s Anglican Church), 3077 George Dauphinee Ave., Halifax, N.S. 11am Friday May 5, 2017, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will occur in Fairview Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the War Amps of Nova Scotia.
