Paula Marie Hayes

Paula died peacefully on October 10th at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Marjorie Hayes and is survived by four siblings: Betty Gordon (Larry), Larry Hayes (Sharon Nicolle), Nancy Cleary and Heather White (Mark) all of Halifax. Paula also leaves several nieces and nephews: Amy Gordon, Halifax, Angela Cleary, Enfield, Heidi Cleary, Halifax, Matthew White, Brookside and Chris White, Charlottetown, PEI.

She is also survived by several grandnephews and grandnieces. Paula graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1973 with a BSc. (Summa Cum Laude). She was employed with Service Canada for 35 years retiring in 2008. Paula loved travel and especially vacationing in the Dominican Republic where she enjoyed the sun and surf. An avid tennis fan, one of the great thrills of her life was attending a tournament in Barcelona, Spain where she got to meet her idol, Rafael Nadal.

The family is very grateful to the caregivers on the third floor of St. Vincent’s who treated her with respect and affection during her battle with dementia. Special thanks to Sophia, Tracey, Shelley and Amy. Cremation has taken place and interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will take place at a later date.
