

Ralph served in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. He was also a long-time employee of St Pat’s High School before his retirement. He always loved dancing, and time at his cottage with his family and his buddy Walter Smith, bowling or just spending time telling stories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ralph will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and living his life to the fullest. “We Are Family.”
He is survived by his children Jane (Andrew) Munro, Ann Marriott, Johnny, Patsy (Ricky) Allison, Linda (Andy) Whynot, Tim (Theresa), Tony (Darlene), Beverly (Billy) Bayers, Kelly (Ricky) Shanks and son-in-law Bobby Slaunwhite as well as 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, brother Robert Martin and his furry companion, Chloe.
He was predeceased by his first wife Doris and second wife Marilyn Downey, daughter Sandra Slaunwhite and son-in-law Jeff Marriott. Family flowers only, donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team, VON nurses, We Care and 1st Responders for their compassion and care for Dad.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 from Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 24 at10:00am from Saint John Vianney, 4 Beaverbank Road, Lower Sackville followed by a reception. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
