I  am so sorry to here about the loss of Mr. Ross.  We would like to give our condolences and sympathy to the Ross family.  I particularly remember Mr. Ross as always having a smile on his face. :-)  Very pleasant man.  Just wanted you  to know that you are in our prayers. Gone but never forgotten. R.I.P.

No one has ever touched my life like Ray has. I attended Shambhala School 1999-2003 and Ray became one of my best friends. In fact when I graduated in 2003 I made a promise to myself that I would go back and visit Ray. I certainly did. Every spring I would pull up in my convertible and he would always yell " Hey baby, hows my friend?" He called me the "Lawyer". Probably because I was always so opinionated. I am so glad that I never missed one year, not one. While in high school, on my lunch break I would take off just to spend time with Ray, listen to his stories about being on the road, his band and the many friends he met. Sometimes he was the reason why I looked forward to going to school. I knew that Ray would be there. I loved him like I love my own father and seeing his daughter crying over his casket was one of the hardest moments of my life. I never met any of his family, but he talked about them often and how proud he was. Ray, thank you. Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone the most. I truly will always love you and remember that sweet smile of yours. A higher power truly broke the mold after he made you because I have certainly never met anyone like you my dear friend. I will never forget.

Ray was our neighbour for 16 years, always a smile and a friendly word when we saw him in the neighbourhood. He had real care for the kids on his crossing and was universally loved by them. Our condolences to the family, Ray, you will be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss, family and friends of the late Mr Ross. He was a blessing to know. I would see him often as I drove past and sometimes visited the restaurant near his designated crosswalk. We would always joke with each other..I called him Mr Brown. He got a kick out of that. As a resident of Kaye St, I watched Ray take the best care of the students of St.Joseph's who had to cross that busy intersection every day.  He also made sure the general public got safely across the street.  I enjoyed our little chats and also how  many people passing by in their cars would honk their horns and wave at him,  His beautiful smile lit up the world  and his vibrant personallity will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to the Ross family.  Ray was a friend of mine for many many years. I will remember Ray with a smile on his face and a contagious laugh. Ray was a man of passion and yet a gentle compassionate soul.  He will be deeply missed by so many.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Ross' passing.  My family used that crosswalk several times a day on the way to school and Mr. Ross could always be counted on to give a pleasant greeting, a huge smile and special attention for each child.  Although it has been a few years since we have had to make the daily journey to school, whenever we bumped into Mr. Ross, be it at the store, the corner or while he was at McDonalds, he still had the huge smile and kind words.  Hopefully his family can find comfort in the fact that the lives he touched were forever changed for the best.  Halifax has lost a true neighbourhood hero.

I was shocked to hear of Mr. Ross passing.  Mr. Ross is someone who will be Greatly missed BUT never forgotten. My children and myself ALWAYS looked forward to seeing him on the corner as a crossing guard at St. Josephs School.  If we were walking or driving we could ALWAYS depend on getting an encouraging word and a smile!! This is a man who had a great heart and EVERYONE loved him! Thank you Uncle Raymond for being such a kind and loving person, You will be surely missed.  You loved  children  and family so much. I absolutely cannot believe that Ray is gone.  I work at the Naval Base, near "Ray's Corner" and he's helped me cross the road many times over the years.  Without fail, he'd always give me a big hug and say 'HI BABY!'  We became friends and talked and joked around a lot.  He told me stories about when he called himself "Little Ray" and performed many shows on the road as a singer.  I brought him gifts from various places I visited and we'd always share a laugh or two.  He took such great care of everyone crossing at his corner - of course, especially the kids.  He loved his "crosswalk kids" and always had a kind word and a "high five" for them as he ensured they crossed the road safely and looked on to make sure they continued down the road safely.  To his family - know that Ray was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.
