Sandra Louise Zinck

ZINCK, Sandra (Sandy) Louise – Age 58 of Lakeside, Nova Scotia, peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the QEII Hospital on February 16, 2014. Born in Halifax, N.S., Sandy was the daughter of Emily Robarts (Zinck), and the late Basil Cruickshanks. Sandy is survived, and sadly missed by her mother Emily, spouse Wayne Julian, sons Michael Zinck (Kim), Adam Zinck, and Shane Zinck, brothers Stephen Cruickshanks, Trevor Robarts, Michael Cruickshanks, Basil Cruickshanks Jr., Brian Cruickshanks, sisters Brenda Cruickshanks, Donna Haverstock (Mark), Heather Cruikshanks, grandson Kory Zinck, granddaughter Sara Zinck, and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy was predeceased by her father Basil Cruickshanks, Stepfather Tide Robarts, children Kory and Sheena Zinck, brother Murray Cruickshanks, and sister Carol Cruickshanks.

Sandy was many things to many people. A loving daughter, wife, mother, nan, sister, and aunt, to her family, as well as a caring friend. People were important to Sandy and she was important to them, but none were more important to Sandy than her children and grandchildren. Sandy had many beautiful qualities that she freely shared with people, and our lives are richer for it. Her honesty, compassion, strength, courage and generosity were all natural qualities for Sandy as breathing is to some.

Sandy loved bingo, camping, and sipping on a Tim's while lounging on her patio swing. She worked for Ben's Bakery in Timberlea for three years, and absolutely cherished her job, and her customers, who cherished her.

A celebration of life service will be held for Sandy at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, on Friday Feb. 21, 2014 at 11:00am, followed by a reception, and interment at Fairview Cemetery.
