Tynes, Shirley Rebecca of Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother and grandmother Shirley Rebecca on May 13, 2010 at the age of 79 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halifax, she is the daughter of the late Steve Ross and Stella Thompson. Shirley was very much devoted to her family and friends. She touched the lives of all those she came in contact with and everyone called her mother. She enjoyed playing bingo and the family card games. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Joseph; sons, Blaine, (Connie), Joey (Leanne), Quentin (Darlene), Bentley (Denise) all of Halifax, Roger (Wilma) New Brunswick; daughters, Elaine, Jenny (Scott), Vanessa all of Halifax, Sherry (Martin) of Dartmouth, Rosanne (Nowlen), and Karen (Jan) all of Toronto. 26 Grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by sons Edward and Brian, daughters; Kim, Eva and Donna, brothers; Horace, Wilfred and Joe and sister Evelyn.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 18, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home 2032 Robie St, Halifax. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 1pm in Mulgrave Park Baptist Church 5666 Sebastian St, Halifax with Rev. Brian Keezer officiating, interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, NS branch.
